Seminar: National Security Through Private Sector Regulation?

28. November 2024

09:00 – 14:00

Auditorium, Norwegian Armed Forces Museum, Akershus Fortress, Oslo

Algo-r-(h)-i-(y)-thms, 2018. Installation view at ON AIR, Tomás Saraceno’s solo exhibition at Palais de Tokyo, Paris.

National security is back at the top of the political agenda as we face global polycrisis. Total defence is being revived, but since last time, the world has changed beyond recognition. Decades of outsourcing and privatization of security, not to mention the context of global interdependence, hyperconnectivity, and geopolitical tectonic shifts, force us to think new. What is national security today and what is being done in its name? What role does private sector regulation play for national security? The INSIDER project has gathered a team of distinguished specialists in the field, inviting academics, defence and security sector officials, students, and engaged citizens into a timely and provocative discussion. The seminar is free and open for all upon online registration.
